Jakarta. The Jakarta Police have uncovered an international cocaine trafficking case involving 2,598 milliliters of liquid cocaine. Five individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.

Director of Narcotics Hengki said that two out of the five suspects are foreign nationals from Portugal, identified as RPAV and FMGS.

"RPAV acted as the courier while FMGS acted as the recipient," Hengki said during a press conference at the Metro Jaya Regional Police headquarters in Jakarta on Monday.

Hengki revealed that the liquid cocaine was transported from Portugal and concealed in bottles of various shampoo brands, a tactic employed to deceive airport authorities.

"RPAV was apprehended on Sunday, March 17 at Terminal 3 International Arrival of Soekarno Hatta Airport," he said.

Meanwhile, FMGS, he said, was arrested in Badung, Bali following the investigation into RPAV.

RPAV was paid 6,000 euros, equivalent to Rp 102 million per transaction, to smuggle the liquid cocaine from Portugal to Indonesia.

"This courier personally transported the liquid cocaine by boarding a flight from Portugal to Soekarno-Hatta Airport. There, he was apprehended for his role as a courier receiving a payment of 6,000 euros," Hengki said.

Hengki added that in addition to RPAV and FMGS, another courier with the initials NK was also identified. Both were designated as suspects along with two other perpetrators, AM and LS.

For their actions, RPAV, FMGS, AM, LS, and NK are facing five to a maximum of 20 years imprisonment.
