Jakarta. Commuter line operator Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) has prepared operational adjustments in Jakarta and surrounding areas to anticipate a large labor rally scheduled to take place in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) building in Senayan on Thursday.

One option under consideration is the temporary suspension of the Tanah Abang–Palmerah route if demonstrations make the track unsafe.

“We will suspend the Commuter Line Rangkasbitung service between Tanah Abang and Palmerah stations should conditions become unsafe,” said KCI Corporate Secretary Vice President Joni Martinus on Wednesday.

The precaution follows unrest earlier this week. On Monday, a protest in front of the parliament building turned chaotic and spread into nearby areas, including Palmerah Station, forcing KCI to halt operations in the evening.

If another closure is required, trains on the Rangkasbitung line would only run as far as Kebayoran or Palmerah before turning back toward Serpong, Parungpanjang, and Rangkasbitung. Schedules may be adjusted situationally from late afternoon to evening to ease congestion.

KCI advised passengers at Palmerah Station to seek alternatives. Riders bound for Serpong and Rangkasbitung can use Kebayoran Station, while those traveling to Cikarang, Bogor, or Tangerang should board from Karet Station.

“KAI Commuter urges all passengers to remain orderly and prioritize safety,” Joni said.
