New York. Foreign Minister Sugiono reaffirmed Indonesia’s unwavering support for Palestinian independence during a bilateral meeting with Riyad Mansour, the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations, on Monday.

The meeting took place ahead of a United Nations Security Council session scheduled for Wednesday and focused on the latest escalation of the conflict as well as concrete steps toward advancing the peace process.

Sugiono stressed that the two-state solution remains the only viable and just pathway to achieving a sustainable resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Mansour welcomed Sugiono’s presence in New York, saying it underscored the enduring solidarity between the two nations. He recalled Indonesia’s historic support for Palestine dating back to the 1955 Bandung Conference, which holds a special place in Palestinian collective memory.

The two diplomats also discussed the formation of the proposed Board of Peace for Gaza and plans for deploying an International Stabilization Force to the territory. Indonesia has expressed readiness to join the Board of Peace initiative backed by US President Donald Trump and to contribute peacekeeping personnel.

“We are prepared to contribute further, including preparing for the possible deployment of peacekeeping forces to Gaza, beginning with medical assistance and reconstruction support,” Sugiono said.

President Prabowo Subianto is currently visiting the United States to strengthen bilateral ties and attend discussions related to the Board of Peace alongside Trump.
