Jakarta. Passport services have resumed at two Immigration Offices in South Sumatra after being temporarily halted on Thursday due to a nationwide outage at the National Data Center (PDN).

However, services remain limited as the system disruption continues to affect operations. Meanwhile, international passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport are still undergoing manual checks.

K.A. Halim, Head of Immigration Information at the Law and Human Rights Ministry's South Sumatra Regional Office in Palembang, acknowledged the impact of the PDN system disruption on immigration services nationwide, including at the Palembang and Muara Enim Immigration Offices.

"Immigration services such as passport issuance, which require electronic document verification, were halted for a full day due to the PDN disruption but have now partially resumed," Halim said.

While efforts to restore the PDN are underway by the Communication and Information Ministry, immigration services at both offices have restarted, although they are not yet operating at full capacity. Data system checks are still undergoing repairs.

During the recovery phase, passport services are currently restricted to biometric data capture, interviews, and applicant photo-taking. Printing of passports awaits the complete restoration of the data check system.

For foreign nationals, officers at the Palembang and Muara Enim Immigration Offices can assist up to the biometric stage, with final processing pending system normalization.

Halim advised the public to postpone non-urgent immigration document processing during the PDN disruption recovery period. He emphasized the importance of monitoring progress to ensure services return to normal operations.

Long Lines at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Immigration Services

At Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the immigration system also experienced disruptions on Thursday, causing significant delays and long passenger queues.

As of Friday, international passengers were still undergoing manual immigration checks because the autogates were not operational.

Director General of Immigration at the Law and Human Rights Ministry, Silmy Karim, attributed the disruption to issues with the PDN managed by the Ministry of Communication and Information.

"The problem lies with the National Data Center managed by the Communications Ministry," Silmy explained on Thursday.

He clarified that resolving the disruption falls outside the authority of the Immigration Directorate, as they are users of the PDN.

Communication and Information Minister, Budi Arie Setiadi, confirmed that the server disruption at the PDN directly impacted the immigration system at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang.

"We are currently focused on service recovery, with our team working diligently to expedite the process," Budi Arie assured.
