Immigration Arrests Four Foreigners for Fake Travel Documents
Tangerang. Immigration officers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport have arrested four foreign nationals from Syria, Sudan, and Iraq for using counterfeit travel documents.
Arfa Yudha Indriawan, the Head of the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Division at Soekarno-Hatta Immigration, revealed that the four detained foreigners include MHAA from Iraq, FAIA from Sudan, and two others identified as IH and MA from Syria.
"These four foreign nationals are strongly suspected of falsifying travel documents, including passports and visas," Arfa said on Tuesday.
Arfa said that MHAA from Iraq tried to board Garuda Indonesia flight GA88 departing from Indonesia to Amsterdam.
"The check-in counter staff had doubts while serving MHAA, which were later confirmed by the head of immigration intelligence and enforcement at Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Office," he said.
Thorough inspections revealed that MHAA was using a fake United Arab Emirates passport.
In another incident, Sudanese national FAIA was apprehended for attempting to enter Indonesia with a fake visit visa.
"FAIA arrived on Etihad Airways flight EY474, presenting a passport and visa suspected to be fake or forged. Immigration officers discovered this after checking the visa through the immigration website," he said.
Furthermore, officials successfully detained two Syrian nationals, IH and MA, who arrived in Indonesia on Emirates Airlines flight EK356.
At the immigration inspection counter, IH and MA submitted Bulgarian passports and e-Visas on Arrival.
"After further examination, it was found that the two Syrian nationals already had respective visit visas under the names IH and MA, submitted using Syrian passports. Additionally, a driving license issued by Turkish authorities under the name MA was also discovered," he said.
The four foreign nationals caught using fake travel documents will be prosecuted under Indonesian Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration.
