Jakarta. Tonight, many people will have their eyes glued to the TV screen to watch how the vice-presidential candidates' debate unfolds.

The debate -- which all running mates Gibran Rakabuming, Muhaimin Iskandar, and Mahfud MD will attend -- is expected to start at 7:00 p.m. It will also see how the vice presidential hopefuls plan on spurring Indonesia’s economic growth in the future if they win the February election.

Approximately 600 high-profile guests will attend the debate that is taking place at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). The guests range from the candidates’ supporters, the political party senior officials, and the Elections Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), among others. Ambassadors, legislators, ministry representatives, religious leaders, civil society organizations, as well as police and military officers will also attend the event.

BTV -- which is part of the B-Universe media holdings -- becomes the official broadcaster for the debate along with fellow TV stations Kompas TV and CNN Indonesia. According to B-Universe’s chief executive officer Rio Abdurachman, the vice presidential debate broadcast involves 300 crewmembers from the three major media groups.
