Jakarta. Bambang Susantono, who recently resigned as the head of the National Capital Nusantara Authority, has been assigned a new role to strengthen international collaboration in constructing the new capital city in East Kalimantan, an aide to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said on Monday.

The presidential office announced earlier in the day that Jokowi accepted Bambang’s resignation alongside that of his deputy, Dhony Rahajoe.

"Mr. Bambang Susantono has been assigned to a new job to assist the president in strengthening international cooperation to build the National Capital Nusantara,” State Secretary Pratikno said.

The official did not specify Bambang’s exact position in the government, whether he will be part of the presidential advisory council or a certain ministry.

The president has appointed Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono as the acting head of the Nusantara Authority and Vice Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning Raja Juli Antoni as his deputy.

Bambang, an expert in infrastructure development and public transportation, has led the authority since March 2022.

He previously served as the Vice President of the Eastern Asia Society of Transportation Studies and a member of the Board of Trustees of the South-South-North (SSN) Foundation in Cape Town, South Africa.
