Eight Foreign Nationals Arrested in South Jakarta Dollar Counterfeit Raid
Jakarta. Immigration officers raided a hotel room in South Jakarta, uncovering an American dollar counterfeit syndicate. The operation, led by Jakarta's Regional Office Head of the Law and Human Rights Ministry, Andika Dwi Prasetya, took place on June 28.
"Eight foreign nationals were arrested, and their identities verified," Andika said during a press conference at the South Jakarta Immigration Office on Friday.
The suspects hail from Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Tanzania. The Cameroonian nationals arrested are identified as HDH, MNA, FS, MB, TJM, and LRN. Additionally, the suspects include MPA from Congo and MSS from Tanzania.
The raid yielded six counterfeit $100 bills and raw materials for producing fake currency.
"These eight foreign nationals also violated immigration regulations by misusing their stay permits. Furthermore, five of the eight individuals did not possess passports," Andika added.
The investigation continues as authorities delve deeper into the syndicate's operations.
