Buol Resident Shocked After Nearly Rp 100 Billion Appears in Her Bank Account
Buol, Central Sulawesi. A resident of Buol, Central Sulawesi, was left stunned after nearly Rp 100 billion (around $6 million) suddenly appeared in her Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) account -- followed by an immediate account freeze.
The customer, Sa’adiah Musa, from Kulango in Biau District, discovered the unexpected balance on Friday after receiving transaction notifications and printing her bank statement.
The case quickly attracted attention among local social media users, with many commenting on the extraordinary size of the transfer and the subsequent freeze that left Sa’adiah unable to access her own legitimate funds.
Sa’adiah later visited the nearest BRI branch to request clarification regarding the source of the mysterious money. She also asked the bank to allow her to withdraw the portion of her balance that she legally owns -- excluding the unknown transfer.
However, as of Sunday -- when the case was shared online by her daughter Sri Rahayu Karamat -- the bank had not yet provided a clear explanation or resolution.
The freezing of the account is believed to be a standard security procedure used by banks to trace the origin of unusually large and potentially suspicious transactions.
Further updates are expected as the bank continues its investigation into the source of the funds.
