Bank BJB CEO Dies at 52, Just Eight Months Into His Tenure
Jakarta. Yusuf Saadudin, the chief executive officer of West Java–based lender Bank BJB, died early Friday at the age of 52, only eight months after assuming the top post.
Yusuf was appointed CEO in March following the resignation of his predecessor, Yuddy Renaldi, who stepped down amid a corruption investigation launched by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
He passed away shortly after midnight while receiving treatment at Mayapada Hospital in Bandung. The cause of death has not been disclosed. His body was later laid in repose at a family residence on Jalan Gamelan No. 4 in Bandung.
A graduate of Padjadjaran University’s accounting program in 1999, Yusuf later earned a master’s degree in economic and business law from the same institution in 2015. He spent his entire professional career at Bank BJB, rising to senior leadership roles beginning in 2019. Before becoming CEO, he served as the bank’s director for consumer and retail banking.
His passing comes as KPK continues its investigation into alleged corruption tied to Bank BJB’s advertising expenditures. The agency has named five suspects, including former CEO Yuddy Renaldi, corporate secretary Widi Hartono, and three advertising agency executives -- Ikin Asikin Dulmanan, Suhendri, and Sophan Jaya Kusuma.
KPK estimates that the alleged scheme caused Rp 222 billion ($13.3 million) in state losses.
