AGO to Auction 436,000 Tons of Seized Coal Linked to Samin Tan Case
Jakarta. Indonesia’s Asset Recovery Agency (BPA) under the Attorney General’s Office plans to auction about 436,000 tons of seized coal linked to an alleged corruption case involving mining company Asmin Koalindo Tuhup (AKT) in Central Kalimantan.
The coal, estimated at 436,283.08 tons, is stored at the CHP 1 Stockpile in Kaong village, Upau district, Tabalong, South Kalimantan, Attorney General’s Office spokesperson Anang Supriatna said Wednesday, according to BeritaSatu.com.
The case involves businessman Samin Tan, who has been implicated in an alleged corruption case concerning the management of AKT’s mining operations during the 2016-2025 period.
The auction will use an online open-bidding system through the government’s official auction portal, with no physical attendance required. Participants must have a verified account and deposit an Rp80 billion ($4.5 million) bid guarantee at least one day before the auction.
The coal has a starting price of Rp178.87 billion.
Bidding will remain open until 1 p.m. Jakarta time on Sept. 23, with the winner to be determined immediately after bidding closes at the Banjarmasin State Property and Auction Service Office (KPKNL).
An auction briefing will be held on Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon Central Indonesia Time at Bagas Bumi Persada in Kaong village.
