The raid took place on Sunday early morning local time. As many as 76 of the arrested Indonesian migrants were men, while 41 were women. There were also 13 children, including a 9-month-old baby. The Indonesian embassy in Malaysia has yet to receive a consular notification that notifies them of the arrest.

“The Indonesian embassy has yet to receive any consular notification on the arrest,” Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Lalu Muhamad Iqbal told reporters via text on Monday.

Malaysian news agency Bernama reported that the weekend raid took place in an illegal settlement at an oil palm plantation area in Setia Alam, Shah Alam.

According to Bernama, the Malaysian immigration department suspected that these migrants had rented the area from local residents. They all shared paying about RM 6,000 (approximately $1,254) a month to rent 0.6 hectares of land. Most of them worked as cleaners, restaurant assistants, and construction workers in the surrounding area.

All of the foreigners did not have valid travel documents. There were also two Bangladeshi men apprehended during the raid.
