Ye’s Jakarta Concert Attracts Fans from 73 Countries in First-Day Sales
Jakarta. More than half of the tickets purchased during the first 24 hours for Ye's upcoming Jakarta concert went to fans overseas, organizers said Tuesday, raising expectations that the event could provide a boost to the capital's tourism and creative economy.
Ye Live in Jakarta 2026 is scheduled for Oct. 24 at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium, with Jakarta billed by organizers as the concert's only stop in Southeast Asia and Oceania.
The organizers expect the concert to attract more than 15,000 international visitors to Jakarta.
“Within the first 24 hours, 52.8% of ticket purchases came from fans in 73 countries,” Raw Vision Collective Marketing and Communications representative Karen Tjahja said at a news conference Tuesday.
She said overseas ticket buyers included fans from Singapore, Malaysia, the United States, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, Britain, Germany, Vietnam and New Zealand.
The international demand could generate spending beyond the concert itself as visiting fans book hotels, use transportation, dine at restaurants and spend on other goods and services during their stay.
Government Eyes Music Tourism Potential
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said major international concerts could generate broader economic benefits through ticket sales, venue rentals, production services, vendors, food businesses and employment.
The government has increasingly supported events as part of its efforts to develop event-based tourism in Indonesia.
From January through July 2026, the Tourism Ministry supported 105 events, comprising 18 national events, 10 international events, 61 events under the Karisma Event Nusantara program, 14 meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) events, and two other regional events.
Citing an impact assessment of government-supported events, Widiyanti said they collectively attracted more than 6.47 million visits and involved more than 11,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as well as more than 184,000 artists and community participants.
The events generated an estimated Rp 1.09 trillion ($61.6 million) in economic activity, she said.
“This shows that international-scale concerts have the potential to create economic value that goes beyond the event itself,” Widiyanti said.
Busy Weekend for Jakarta
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said hosting Ye's concert presented an opportunity to strengthen the capital's position as a global city and showcase Jakarta to international visitors.
The city administration plans to provide transportation and other logistical support, particularly because the concert will coincide with a busy weekend for major events in the capital.
The Jakarta Running Festival will take place around the same time and is expected to draw between 35,000 and 38,000 runners, according to Pramono.
“This is also an opportunity for Jakarta to sell Jakarta,” he said.
The city administration said it would support transportation arrangements and coordinate other measures to help ensure the concert is held safely and smoothly, while seeking to maximize opportunities for local creative economy businesses.
