Jakarta. Whoosh, Indonesia's high-speed railway service, carried 573,780 passengers between June 13 and July 12 as travel demand surged during the school holiday season, operator KCIC said on Wednesday.

Average daily ridership rose 26.5% from normal levels, increasing from around 16,000-18,000 passengers to between 20,000 and 23,000 passengers a day.

KCIC Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said the increase reflects growing public confidence in Whoosh as a fast, comfortable and reliable mode of transportation.

"With its short travel time, seamless connectivity to other transport modes and easy access to tourist destinations in Jakarta and Bandung, Whoosh has become a practical mobility solution during the school holiday period," Eva said in a statement.

The highest daily ridership was recorded on July 3, when 23,408 passengers traveled on the high-speed rail service.

The Jakarta-Bandung corridor remained the busiest route during the holiday period. The Halim-Padalarang route served 206,009 passengers, while the return route from Padalarang to Halim carried 199,886 passengers.

The Halim-Tegalluar Summarecon route recorded 70,803 passengers, while the return service carried 62,704 passengers, underscoring strong demand across the network.

Whoosh also saw increasing demand for shorter-distance trips along its corridor. The Karawang-Halim route served a combined 13,214 passengers during the period, while 16,758 passengers traveled between Padalarang and Tegalluar Summarecon.

The figures indicate that passengers are increasingly using Whoosh not only for intercity travel between Jakarta and Bandung but also for shorter, faster journeys within the rail corridor.

Halim Station was the busiest departure point, serving 283,428 passengers, followed by Padalarang Station with 206,992 passengers. KCIC attributed the high traffic to increased tourism, family visits and other holiday-related travel.

"KCIC appreciates the public's trust in choosing Whoosh during the school holiday period. We remain committed to providing fast, comfortable, safe and punctual service so that Whoosh continues to be the preferred mode of travel between Jakarta and Bandung," Eva said.
