Jakarta. Indonesian pop diva Krisdayanti has added another accolade to her illustrious career, this time outside the entertainment industry, after winning a gold medal at the 2026 National Wushu Championships at the age of 51.

The singer claimed the title in the Shanzi (fan) event, Group E Female, at the national tournament held in Alam Sutera, BSD, on Saturday. Performing with a traditional Chinese fan, Krisdayanti impressed judges with a graceful and technically polished routine.

The victory was witnessed by her older sister, fellow singer Yuni Shara, and their mother, who were in attendance to support her.

"My participation in the 2026 National Wushu Championships is not merely about competing, but about contributing to a space where Indonesia's future athletes can grow," Krisdayanti wrote on social media.

She said the gold medal was the product of dedication rather than talent alone.

"Every training session, every competition, and every step of the process is an investment in building character, discipline, sportsmanship, and achievement," she said.

Krisdayanti also thanked organizers, coaches, parents and athletes for helping develop wushu in Indonesia, expressing hope that the sport would produce more Indonesian competitors capable of succeeding on the world stage.

Laughing after receiving her medal, she joked that the victory was fitting because she had already reached her "golden age" in her 50s.

Widely known by her initials KD, Krisdayanti is one of Indonesia's most celebrated singers. She first gained international recognition after winning the inaugural Asia Bagus Grand Championship in Tokyo in 1992, a pan-Asian television singing competition produced by Japan's Fuji TV. The victory earned her a recording contract and paved the way for a career that would make her one of Indonesia's biggest music stars.

She went on to dominate Indonesia's pop music scene through the 1990s and 2000s with chart-topping hits including Menghitung Hari, Mencintaimu, and Aku Wanita Biasa. Often described as one of Indonesia's legendary pop divas alongside Ruth Sahanaya and Titi DJ, Krisdayanti has won numerous Anugerah Musik Indonesia (AMI) Awards, including multiple Best Female Pop Artist honors, and in 1997 was named "The Best of Asia Bagus."

Beyond music, Krisdayanti has built a career as an actress, television personality, and politician, serving as a member of Indonesia's House of Representatives since 2019.
