Indonesia Cuts 2026 Hajj Cost, Sets 26-Year Standard Waiting Period
Jakarta. Indonesia will lower the 2026 Hajj cost by around Rp 2 million ($120) per pilgrim, introduce a uniform 26-year waiting period nationwide, and maintain the national Hajj quota at 221,000, under a new agreement between the government and the House of Representatives (DPR).
During a joint session on Wednesday between the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and House Commission VIII at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, Commission VIII Deputy Chair Abdul Wachid announced that the 2026 Hajj Implementation Cost (BPIH) has been set at Rp 87,490,306 per pilgrim, lower than this year’s Rp 89.41 million. Of that amount, Rp 55.43 million was directly paid by pilgrims in 2025.
On Tuesday, the government also confirmed that the 2026 Hajj quota remains at 221,000 pilgrims, comprising 203,320 regular pilgrims (92 percent) and 17,680 special fast-track pilgrims (8 percent). The new quota distribution standardizes the waiting period at 26 years across all provinces, ending long-standing disparities between regions.
Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said the new system ensures fairness and a stronger legal framework for future Hajj arrangements. “This uniform waiting period creates more equality and transparency nationwide,” Dahnil said.
East Java will receive the largest allocation with 42,409 pilgrims, followed by Central Java (34,122) and West Java (29,643), while North Sulawesi, West Papua, and North Kalimantan have the smallest quotas.
The government said the updated cost structure and quota policy will apply for the next three years to provide planning stability for regional administrations and the Hajj fund authority.
