Hope and Loyalty: Batik Motifs at BNI Investor Daily Summit Reflect Indonesia’s Future
Jakarta. One of the traditions at the BNI Investor Daily Summit is the selection of batik worn by the organizers, including President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo. Throughout the three editions of the BNI-Investor Daily Summit, President Jokowi has consistently worn batik similar to that of the organizing committee.
This year, the selected batik features a megamendung (cloudy skies) motif accompanied by storks. Enggartiasto Lukita, Executive Chairman of B-Universe, explained that the megamendung motif was chosen not only because he hails from Cirebon but also because of its symbolism of hope and optimism.
Enggar noted that the clouds represent rain, which brings fertility to the land and embodies a sense of calm that fosters focus. The stork symbolizes loyalty and its nest.
“This represents the loyalty between Mr. Jokowi and Mr. Prabowo, as both share the same commitment to safeguarding and building the nation, akin to the stork's nest or home,” he stated during his opening remarks at the BNI Investor Daily Summit 2024 in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Enggar emphasized that the themes of megamendung and storks reflect our awareness of the challenges faced in today’s world.
“However, we remain optimistic about a future that will bring prosperity, symbolized by the megamendung, and we believe in overcoming these challenges. Our unity and loyalty drive our commitment to building our great home, our nation, Indonesia, represented by the stork,” he explained.
In 2023, President Jokowi and Enggartiasto Lukita wore green and blue batik attire, symbolizing Indonesia's commitment to green development and carbon emission reduction.
The 2024 BNI Investor Daily Summit, themed “Accelerating Resilient Growth,” aims to foster optimism and discussions about Indonesia’s economic future, with a focus on avoiding the middle-income trap. The two-day event was inaugurated by President Jokowi and attended by State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, and Investment Minister Rosan P. Roeslani.
