Jakarta. Indonesia’s national flag carrier is offering foreign tourists a free domestic flight when they purchase an eligible round-trip international ticket to Indonesia, as part of a government-backed effort to encourage visitors to explore beyond Jakarta and Bali.

The Discover More Indonesia program, launched by Garuda Indonesia in partnership with state-owned tourism holding company InJourney, provides one complimentary domestic flight to a second destination in Indonesia.

The offer is available for tickets issued and travel taking place from Aug. 1 to Nov. 30, 2026, subject to the program’s conditions and seat availability.

What does the program offer?
Foreign tourists who buy an eligible Garuda Indonesia international flight to Indonesia can add one domestic flight for free to another destination within the country.

The free flight is not a free ticket to Indonesia. Travelers must first purchase an eligible international round-trip ticket operated by Garuda Indonesia.

For example, a visitor could fly internationally to Indonesia and then use the complimentary domestic flight to continue to another Indonesian destination, allowing them to combine two destinations in a single trip without paying an additional domestic airfare.

Garuda Indonesia has allocated 170,845 domestic seats for the promotion.

The initiative is intended to encourage international visitors to travel beyond Indonesia’s main gateways, particularly Jakarta and Denpasar, and spread tourism activity to other parts of the archipelago.

Who is eligible?
The promotion applies to passengers purchasing international flights operated by Garuda Indonesia to Indonesia.

It is available across Economy and Business Class. The complimentary domestic flight will generally be provided in the same cabin class as the accompanying international ticket.

However, the promotion does not apply to interline or codeshare flights, tickets purchased using miles or award redemptions, corporate-negotiated fares or bookings covered by corporate travel agreements.

How can travelers claim the free flight?
There are two ways to use the offer.

Travelers can book the international and domestic flights together under the same reservation (PNR) when purchasing their international ticket.

Those who have already purchased an eligible international ticket can request the complimentary domestic flight afterward by contacting a Garuda Indonesia sales office or call center. The additional flight remains subject to fare and seat availability.

For online bookings, travelers must enter the promotional code INDO during the booking process.

The promotion is available through Garuda Indonesia’s website and FlyGaruda app, as well as online travel agencies, travel agents and Garuda Indonesia sales offices.

How long can tourists stay?
The promotion comes with different minimum and maximum stay requirements depending on the international route.

Travelers arriving from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok must stay in Indonesia for at least three nights and no more than seven nights.

For all other international routes, the required stay is between three and 21 nights.

The international inbound flight must depart for Indonesia no later than Nov. 30, 2026. The return flight to the passenger’s original country of departure can take place after that date, provided the traveler complies with applicable length-of-stay requirements.

What happens if the international ticket is cancelled?
The free domestic flight is tied to the eligible international ticket.

If the international ticket is refunded, cancelled or changed to a fare that no longer qualifies for the promotion, the complimentary domestic flight will also be cancelled.

The free domestic ticket has no cash value and cannot be refunded separately.

The promotion also cannot generally be combined with other discount codes, corporate fares or promotional programs, although standard child and infant discounts remain applicable.

Why is Garuda offering free domestic flights?
Indonesia is an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, with tourism attractions ranging from beaches and mountains to cultural and historical sites.

Yet international tourism is heavily concentrated around established gateways such as Bali and Jakarta. By subsidizing an additional domestic flight, the Discover More Indonesia program seeks to make it easier for foreign visitors to add another destination to their itinerary.

For international travelers, the offer effectively turns a single-destination trip into an opportunity to see more of Indonesia without paying for a second domestic airfare.

The promotion is available until Nov. 30, 2026, but travelers should check the full terms and seat availability before booking, as the free flight is subject to specific eligibility requirements.
