Fifth Annual Conference on Indonesian Foreign Policy Kicks Off Saturday
Jakarta. The Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia, or FPCI, will hold its fifth annual Conference on Indonesian Foreign Policy, the largest gathering to discuss issues related to foreign policy in the country, on Saturday.
This year's conference will take place at Kasablanka Hall in South Jakarta, with an official theme of "Cooling Off the Hot Peace: Strategic Opportunities and Economic Remedies for a Distressful World."
"The theme was chosen because we believe the re-emergence of geostrategic competition, distrust, instability and chaos in today's world affairs has led to a 'Hot Peace' that's the biggest challenge for world peace at the moment," the FPCI said in a statement.
The conference will gather ministers, government officials, ambassadors, diplomats, experts, politicians, celebrities, corporate leaders, community leaders, military and intelligence officers, researchers, journalists, lecturers and students from all over Indonesia.
The community expects 10,000 people will attend the conference to participate in panel discussions on geopolitics, security, defense, economy, culture, the environment and youth issues.
FPCI founder Dino Patti Djalal will open the conference, which will also be attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi and Defense Minister Prabowo.
On a lighter note, a collaboration with Bumi Langit Universe will bring to the conference big-name celebrities who will appear in the soon-to-be-released Jagat Bumi Langit superhero films, including Pevita Pearce who will play Sri Asih, Tara Basro (Merpati) and Kelly Tandiono (Elang Mata Angel).
The celebrities are expected to attract more young people to the conference, especially to attend panels on economic, social and youth issues.
Action figures, posters and comics of the Jagat Bumi Langit superheroes will be available from a special booth.
The conference will also feature exhibitions from other countries and regions including Australia, Canada, the European Union and China.
The conference is free and open to the public. Visit the website, www.cifp2019.com, to register.
