Jakarta. US Ambassador to Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir encouraged Indonesian students to pursue higher education opportunities in the United States, noting that there are currently nearly 9,000 Indonesian students studying in the U.S.

“Increasing educational ties between the United States and Indonesia is a key pillar of our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” Ambassador Lakhdhir said at the opening of the EducationUSA Fair in Jakarta on Saturday.

“As we celebrate our 75th year of diplomatic relations, I hope to see an increase in the number of Indonesians studying in the United States as they strengthen the bridge between our countries and our cultures. The United States is open to Indonesian students at all levels of study,” she added.

The EducationUSA Fair features representatives from 56 U.S. universities and colleges, along with representatives from Indonesian and US scholarship offices. The event is free and open to the public.
