Bali Targets 6.6 Million International Visitors in 2026
Bali. Bali’s tourism authority is aiming for 6.63 million international arrivals in 2026, as the island shifts focus toward higher-quality visitors and adapts to global uncertainties.
Head of Marketing at Bali’s Tourism Office, Ida Ayu Indah Yustikarini, said the target follows a strong performance in 2025.
“We are targeting 6.63 million foreign tourists this year, as outlined in our strategic plan through 2030,” she said on Monday during a press conference ahead of the Bali and Beyond Travel Fair 2026.
The 2026 target is a modest adjustment from the 2025 goal of 6.5 million, which was exceeded, with total arrivals reaching around 6.94 million.
Rather than focusing solely on arrival numbers, Bali is prioritizing tourism quality. The strategy also includes a shift in market focus from Europe and the United States toward Asian markets, including China and India, amid ongoing Middle East tensions that may affect European travel flows.
“We are encouraging tourists from nearby regions, particularly Asia-Pacific markets such as Australia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, and South Asia, including India,” Ida Ayu said.
Top sources of Bali’s foreign tourists in 2025 included Australia, China, India, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Malaysia, Singapore, and Germany.
Domestic tourism also remains a priority, as Bali learned during the COVID-19 pandemic that local travelers play a crucial role in sustaining the economy.
To boost international arrivals, Bali is seeking support from the central government, particularly the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to strengthen promotion in target markets.
According to the Central Statistics Agency Bali, Indian tourists were the second-largest group in 2025, with more than 569,000 arrivals, followed by China with over 537,000. Australia remained the top contributor, with more than 1.6 million visitors.
Tourist arrivals from China, South Korea, and Japan recorded strong growth in 2025, rising 19.83%, 17.91%, and 17.96% respectively compared to 2024. Overall, Bali welcomed 6.94 million foreign tourists in 2025, marking a 9.72% increase from 2024.
