Stronger Forest Enforcement Adds Rp 1.75t to Tax Revenue
Jakarta. Indonesia’s Tax Directorate General reported an additional Rp 1.75 trillion ($1.05 billion) in revenue following enforcement efforts by the Forest Area Regularization Task Force (Satgas PKH).
Tax chief Bimo Wijayanto told lawmakers on Monday that taxpayer compliance across forestry, plantation, and mining sectors improved after the government strengthened oversight in forest areas.
“Additional payments up to Nov. 21 reached Rp 1.75 trillion, rising 20.22 percent compared with last year,” he said during a hearing with Commission XI.
The extra revenue came from four activities: new registrations for PBB-P5L, tax audits that contributed around Rp 180 million, supervisory actions that produced Rp 138.39 billion, and accelerated settlement of tax arrears, the largest chunk at Rp 1.61 trillion.
“That arrears settlement is the biggest contributor,” Bimo said. “The total monthly impact from Satgas PKH, beyond routine collections, stands at Rp 1.75 trillion.”
He added that tax payments outside regular monthly obligations also increased, climbing from Rp 25.86 trillion to Rp 31.08 trillion, reflecting stronger compliance in forest-related areas after intensified enforcement.
The task force brings together three Finance Ministry units: the Tax Directorate General, the Budget Directorate General, and the State Assets Directorate General. Bimo said the tax office’s role centers on boosting revenue and strengthening governance.
“Our aim is to optimize tax and non-tax revenue and improve coordination across ministries and agencies,” he said.
