Jakarta. National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia Airlines ranks first as the most punctual airline in the world in 2023, according to the UK-based independent institution OAG Flightview, which assesses the on-time performance (OTP) of global airlines.

Garuda Indonesia takes the lead in the global airlines rankings, with an OTP of 95.28 percent from 49,918 flights. The top 20 listings include airlines from various regions and network sizes, spanning from Safair in South Africa, operating 52,000 flights annually, to Delta Air Lines.

Garuda Indonesia's President Director, Irfan Setiaputra, said the company will continue to provide safe and comfortable flight services for passengers.

"To coincide with the 75th anniversary of Garuda Indonesia, we believe that the sustainable trust of service users in Garuda's flight services is formed from the core values that we continue to uphold, including safety, security, comfort, including timely departure and arrival," said Irfan in an official statement on Wednesday.

Airline on-time performance is based on actual gate arrival times. Flights that arrive within 15 minutes of the schedule are considered on-time. Arriving 15 minutes or more after the scheduled time is considered not on time.

This achievement complements Garuda Indonesia's achievements in previous years since 2019, namely receiving the 5 Star On-Time Performance Rating in 2019, the most punctual airline in the world in the Punctuality League 2020, and the Punctuality League 2023.
