Bukit Asam Q1 Profit More Than Doubles Despite Slight Revenue Dip
Jakarta. State-owned coal miner Bukit Asam (PTBA) reported a 104.81% year-on-year surge in net profit to Rp 801.79 billion ($46.3 million) in the first quarter of 2026, even as revenue edged slightly lower.
The profit increase was driven by stronger global coal prices, which supported margins despite softer top-line performance.
According to financial statements released on Thursday, Bukit Asam recorded revenue of Rp 9.93 trillion in the January–March period, down 0.29% from Rp 9.96 trillion a year earlier.
Coal sales accounted for 98.14% of the company’s total revenue, underscoring its core dependence on the commodity.
The remaining Rp 184.66 billion came from other business activities, including electricity sales, briquettes, crude palm oil, and hospital services.
The results highlight the company’s sensitivity to commodity price movements, with higher coal prices offsetting marginal declines in sales.
