APP Sinar Mas China Donates 40 Tons of Medical Supplies to Indonesia
Jakarta. Asia Pulp & Paper Sinar Mas China and several Chinese companies operating in Indonesia have donated medical supplies to the government on Friday to help the country cope with the Covid-19 pandemic.
The pulp and paper company joined forces with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce in China (Inacham) to source and shipped 40 tons of N95 masks, surgical masks, and disinfectant wipes to Indonesia.
Agung Kuswandono, the Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment, received the donation at Soekarno Hatta International Airport on Friday.
"This donation of medical equipment is part of responsibility and concern in helping alleviate impacts of the Covid-19 epidemic and supporting mitigation carried out by the Indonesian government," Gandi Sulistiyanto, Sinar Mas' managing director, said.
Gandi said the business group was keeping a close eye on the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia and a close contact with the central government, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the Health Ministry, and the regional governments.
"We fully support the measures and programs for disaster management that have been set by the government," Gandi said.
Previously, Sinar Mas already joined forces with other business groups in the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to donate personal protective equipment (PPE), ventilators and rapid testing kits to the government's Covid-19 Task Force.
Sinar Mas said it was the task force, not the company, that would determine where supplies would be distributed across the country.
