Antam Gold Drops Rp 45,000 on Stronger Dollar
Jakarta. The price of gold bars produced by Aneka Tambang, commonly known as Antam, dropped steeply on Thursday, according to data from the Logam Mulia website.
The benchmark 1-gram Antam gold price fell Rp 45,000 to Rp 3,042,000 ($179.92), reversing Wednesday’s surge when prices jumped Rp 40,000 to Rp 3,087,000 per gram.
Despite the sharp daily drop, Antam gold has still posted a strong rally this year. Prices have climbed roughly 22% since the start of 2026, when gold was priced at Rp 2,488,000 per gram on Jan. 1.
The metal previously reached its all-time high of Rp 3,168,000 per gram on Jan. 29, 2026.
Meanwhile, Antam’s buyback price, the rate at which the company repurchases gold from customers, also declined Rp 43,000 to Rp 2,804,000 per gram on Thursday.
Antam Gold Price (Thursday, Mar. 12):
- 0,5 gram: Rp 1,571,000
- 1 gram: Rp 3,042,000
- 2 gram: Rp 6,024,000
- 3 gram: Rp 9,011,000
- 5 gram: Rp 14,985,000
- 10 gram: Rp 29,915,000
- 25 gram: Rp 74,662,000
- 50 gram: Rp 149,245,000
- 100 gram: Rp 298,412,000

Globally, gold prices also extended their decline during Thursday’s trading session, pressured by a stronger US dollar and rising US Treasury yields.
Spot gold slipped 0.51% to $5,149.99 per troy ounce at the time of writing, while US gold futures fell 0.43% to $5,156.89 per troy ounce.
According to Dupoin Futures analyst Andy Nugraha, the correction came after the latest US inflation data came broadly in line with market expectations. The data reinforced market assumptions that the Federal Reserve may only cut interest rates once toward the end of the year.
The outlook strengthened the US dollar and pushed government bond yields higher, both of which typically weigh on gold prices.
Nugraha also pointed to geopolitical developments as another factor shaping the market. Tensions in the Middle East involving the United States, Israel, and Iran have persisted for more than ten days, raising concerns about potential disruptions to global energy supply.
He noted that rising oil prices could add further inflationary pressure worldwide, potentially influencing expectations for global monetary policy.
Higher energy prices have also fueled speculation that inflation could remain elevated for longer than previously anticipated. This scenario, analysts say, makes investors more cautious in predicting the pace of monetary easing by the Federal Reserve.
As a result, the stronger dollar and elevated Treasury yields continue to limit gold’s short-term upside.
From a technical perspective, Nugraha said the combination of candlestick patterns and the Moving Average indicator still signals a bullish trend for gold.
If buying momentum persists, gold could climb toward a resistance level around $5,231 per troy ounce, which analysts see as the nearest upside target should positive sentiment return to the market.
However, he cautioned that downside risks remain. Should gold fail to maintain upward momentum, prices could retreat toward a support level near $5,126 per troy ounce, a key threshold that could determine the next direction of the market.
In the near term, Nugraha expects gold prices to remain sensitive to several factors, including developments in the Middle East conflict, movements in global oil prices, and upcoming US economic data.
Investors are also closely watching the release of the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index, the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge.
