Jakarta. The Finance Ministry has recorded that nearly 13 million taxpayers have filed their Annual Income Tax Returns (SPT) for the 2023 tax year as of the deadline on March 31st. This figure includes 12.63 million individual taxpayers and 351,420 corporate taxpayers.

"Thank you and appreciation to the 12,99 million income taxpayers who have submitted their 2023 SPT for personal taxes, which ended on March 31," said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati as quoted from her official Instagram account @SMIndrawati on Tuesday.

Breaking it down, the number of individual taxpayer SPT filings has grown by 7.38 percent compared to the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, corporate taxpayer SPT filings have increased by 5.15 percent from the same period in 2023.

Sri Mulyani expressed appreciation to the public who actively participated in filing their SPT, whether online or conventionally at tax offices.

"Thank you and appreciation once again to all taxpayers who comply with the regulations. With tax revenues, we build an independent, prosperous, and fair Indonesia," she said.

The number of taxpayers who have filed their taxes is still far below the total estimated number of taxpayers, which is approximately 69 million people.

In 2023, tax revenue recorded a growth of 8.9 percent, reaching Rp 1,869.2 trillion, approximately 3 percent higher than the government's target.

Indonesia's tax ratio in 2023 reached 10.21 percent of the GDP. Although this is a slight decrease compared to the previous year's 10.41 percent, the realization exceeds the initial target of 9.61 percent set for 2023.
