Companies Need Real-Time Data to Scale AI, CloudMile Says
Jakarta. Companies expanding their use of artificial intelligence (AI) need reliable, up-to-date data infrastructure to support applications and turn AI investments into measurable business results, CloudMile Indonesia says.
Many businesses are moving beyond AI experiments, but their data systems have not always kept pace. Gilland Cardindo, country director of CloudMile Indonesia, said companies must establish clear business objectives and build a reliable data foundation before scaling AI adoption.
“AI adoption is on the rise across various Indonesian companies, but successful AI implementation requires more than just powerful models,” Gilland said during the announcement of CloudMile’s partnership with Aerospike in Jakarta.
He said companies should first determine how AI will support their operations, including whether it will be used for internal processes or to generate new revenue streams. Without clear objectives, AI projects risk remaining at the pilot stage.
CloudMile said some companies are already running AI applications that rely on outdated or non-real-time data, potentially reducing the relevance of their outputs.
“When we try to prompt the AI, the data isn’t real-time or up to date. That becomes a problem,” Gilland said.
The issue is particularly relevant to generative AI and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), which require access to relevant and current information. Real-time data is also increasingly important as companies use AI to support business decisions.
Venkatesh Guntur, an Aerospike representative, said companies in financial services, telecommunications, and digital commerce are handling larger data volumes and increasingly demanding applications as AI adoption grows.
Data cited in CloudMile and Aerospike materials from PwC’s 29th Global CEO Survey showed that 22% of Indonesian CEOs said AI had increased revenue over the previous 12 months, while 28% reported cost reductions. Only 10% reported both benefits.
The materials also indicated that 24% of Indonesian CEOs viewed comprehensive data access as a foundation for unlocking AI’s value.
CloudMile said companies should assess their data readiness and business objectives across the AI implementation process, from strategy and prototyping to deployment, operations, and evaluation.
The company and Aerospike announced a partnership in Indonesia on Wednesday to combine cloud architecture, implementation, and managed services with Aerospike’s real-time data platform. The partnership aims to help businesses strengthen their data infrastructure as they expand AI adoption.
