PTPP Wins Rp 3.35 Trillion Contract for Batam’s Combined Cycle Plant
Jakarta. State-run construction firm PTPP announced Monday that it had secured a contract worth Rp 3.35 trillion or around $206 million to set up a combined cycle power plant in Batam.
The project belongs to state-owned utility company PLN Batam. The latest announcement meant that PTPP had earned Rp 14.78 trillion worth of new contracts so far this year as of August. According to a press statement, PTPP will carry out the project in a joint operation scheme. PTPP will hold an 80 percent share as the project's leader.
The Batam combined cycle power plant lies in Kabil Industrial Estate and will boast a capacity of 120 megawatts. The plant will have 2 gas turbines, a couple of heat recovery system generators, and one steam turbine equipped with international-standard combined cycle technology. These technologies are expected to not only be efficient and reliable, but also environmentally friendly. According to PTPP’s corporate secretary Joko Raharjo, the project will cement PTPP’s presence in the energy sector.
“We have built Tanjung Uncang Batam and Cilegon combined cycle power plants. So we are optimistic that we can finish this project in time and meet the high-quality standards. We also wish to support the need for efficient and environmentally friendly electricity,” Joko said.
Joko also said that the plant could boost the industrial growth and economy in Batam and Riau Islands.
“We are committed to supporting the government’s Asta Cita program, particularly in realizing national energy security and self-sufficiency,” Joko said.
He added that the company would continue diversifying its portfolio on national strategic projects in the energy, infrastructure, and building sectors. This expansion is set to create greater long-term value for its shareholders and investors, according to Joko.
