Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo inaugurated two key infrastructure projects—Section 2 of the Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road and the Bayung Lencir-Tempino Toll Road—on Wednesday at the Kisaran Toll Gate, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra. The projects, developed by state-owned construction firm PT PP, are part of Indonesia's National Strategic Projects (PSN) aimed at enhancing connectivity across Sumatra.

The Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road Section II spans from Limapuluh to Kisaran, while the Bayung Lencir-Tempino Toll Road Project includes the construction of Section 2. In his remarks, Jokowi emphasized the importance of these projects in accelerating the development of the Trans Sumatra infrastructure network. "This toll road, especially Trans Sumatra, is expected to boost the mobility of people and goods, enhancing logistics distribution and enabling each region to compete globally," the president said.

The Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road has a total contract value of Rp 4.5 trillion and covers a length of 47.75 kilometers, with construction spanning from December 2018 to January 2024. Meanwhile, Section 2 of the Bayung Lencir-Tempino Toll Road, part of a larger project package, has a contract value of Rp 1.18 trillion, covering 11 kilometers, with construction set for completion between June 2023 and August 2024.

PT PP President Director Novel Arsyad highlighted the company's successful completion of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road development. "With the inauguration of Section 2 of the Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road and the Bayung Lencir-Tempino Project, PT PP has fulfilled its role in delivering these National Strategic Projects on target, with high quality and a focus on safety," Arsyad said. He added that the inauguration follows the earlier completion of the Indrapura-Limapuluh Toll Road in early 2024.

The inauguration was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Member of Commission 5 of the House of Representatives Bakri, Acting Governor of North Sumatra Agus Fatoni, Acting Regent of Asahan Basarin Yunus Tanjung, Director General of Highways at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Rachman Arief Dienaputra, President Director of Hutama Karya Budi Harto, and Finance Director of PT PP Agus Purbianto.
