Jakarta. KB Bank has recently launched subsidized diesel cards in Bintan, Riau Islands.

The launch took place in partnership with Bintan’s transportation agency. This is part of KB Bank’s efforts to boost the efficiency and equity in the distribution of subsidized fuel, particularly diesel, in Bintan. The card uses chip and hologram technology, enabling users to have controlled access to subsidized diesel. These cards are expected to slash queues at gas stations and prevent hoarding of such fuels by irresponsible people.

“Hopefully, the Bintan people can take advantage of the fuel card as best as they can. So we can all help improve the efficiency and distribution of the subsidized fuel,” KB Bank's president director Tom (Woo Yeul) Lee recently said during the card’s launching ceremony.

Also attending the ceremony were Bintan Regent Roby Kurniawan, Vice Regent Ahdi Muqsith, Riau’s economic agency head Syakiakirti, as well as Pertamina Patra Niaga’s representative Bagus Handoko.

Aside from the subsidized fuel, KB Bank is also empowering the Bintan locals as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative. The bank recently provided operational assistance to Al-Kaffah Mosque in Bintan, Riau. Aside from being a place of worship, the mosque is expected to be a hub for community empowerment.
