Jakarta. To mark International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9, Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas signed an Integrity Commitment Declaration outlining eight core principles for preventing and combating corruption across the institution.

The signing was followed by a collective reading of the declaration by all SKK Migas employees, serving as a public commitment and moral pledge that the organization stands firmly as a clean, transparent, and professional institution.

The process was witnessed by the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Setyo Budiyanto, and SKK Migas Chief Djoko Siswanto.

Setyo commended SKK Migas’ preventive initiatives and highlighted the impact of straightforward messages within the institution. He recalled a simple but powerful statement he found inside an SKK Migas restroom: “Office money, partner money, coworker money, vendor money -- none of it is yours.”

“Simple reminders like this should serve as a strong deterrent for any potential corrupt behavior,” Setyo said.

He also raised concern over Indonesia’s Corruption Perception Index, which currently stands at 37 out of 100, underscoring that corruption remains a reality that requires stronger collective action. “Corruption still exists. Energy self-sufficiency will never be possible without integrity,” he said, referring to Indonesia’s push for energy sovereignty.

SKK Migas Chief Djoko Siswanto stressed that the occasion represents an important momentum to reinforce integrity throughout the institution. “This is our commitment to ensure that there is no room for corruption at SKK Migas. And if we find even a small crack, we fix it together before it turns into serious damage,” he said.

He added that this year’s theme, “Eradicate Corruption for Energy Sovereignty” reflects the core foundation required to achieve national energy independence. “Integrity is the energy that drives every decision, every business process, and every policy we make,” he added.

The integrity declaration affirms that SKK Migas’ agenda goes beyond meeting production targets or delivering strategic energy projects. It aims to ensure that every effort to secure Indonesia’s energy future is carried out with strong ethical foundations, contributing to a sovereign and sustainable energy sector.
