Garut Gov't, Bakti Barito Foundation Honor 2024 Adiwiyata Awardees
Jakarta. The Garut environment agency and the Bakti Barito Foundation recently honored this year's Adiwiyata Awardees.
The awards recognize the contributions of 31 remarkable schools working in their communities to advance progress towards environmental sustainability and climate resilience. The awarding took place on World Environment Day on Wednesday after an early morning event hosted by the Garut Regency Government.
Acting Garut Regent Barnas Adjidin, local government officials, educational leaders, and representatives from environmental organizations were present during the event.
Earlier that day, Bakti Barito Foundation received the 2024 Partner Award from the Garut Regency Government, highlighting the foundation’s dedication to environmental education and sustainability.
“By empowering schools and communities, we are creating a more resilient and sustainable future for all. These awardees exemplify the commitment and innovation needed to tackle environmental challenges,” Bakti Barito Foundation executive director Fifi Pangestu was quoted as saying in a press statement.
“The foundation’s flagship program, Green Guardians, is a holistic school assistance initiative aimed at using climate education as a powerful tool to empower youth to lead progressive change in their communities and local environments.”
Celebrating Adiwiyata Awards
This year’s 2024 Adiwiyata Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Department of Environment Garut, was attended by numerous dignitaries and environmental advocates.
“This year’s Adiwiyata Award winners show us how local action can drive global change. Everyone has the power to make a difference in their communities, and these advocates are helping hundreds of children live climate-resilient lives,” the Garut environment department's head Jujun Juansyah Nurhakim.
This year, 31 schools received the Adiwiyata Award trophies. Several schools also received special recognition in the form of certificates for their outstanding efforts in specific categories:

Event Details
The day's events were divided into two sessions:
7.00 a.m.: Hosted by the Garut Regency Government, this session awarded the Partner Award to Bakti Barito Foundation alongside three partners and presented certificates to the 31 schools receiving the Adiwiyata Award.
9.00 a.m.: Hosted by the Department of Environment Garut, this session presented the Adiwiyata Awards in the form of trophies, with special categories receiving additional certificates.
