ESDM, SKK Migas, and Upstream Contractors Mobilize Emergency Aid for Sumatra Flood Victims
Jakarta. The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry, together with the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Regulator (SKK Migas) and upstream contractors (KKKS), has continued delivering humanitarian aid to communities affected by severe flooding and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The relief efforts aim to ease the burden on residents and accelerate emergency response and recovery.
The aid distribution is coordinated with local governments, the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB), and emergency response posts in the affected areas. Supplies include basic necessities, emergency logistics, and disaster relief equipment, such as generators, food packages, ready-to-eat meals, bottled water, sanitation supplies, blankets, family tents, mats, baby supplies, medical equipment and medicines, and cleaning tools for post-disaster recovery. Additional supplies are also provided based on needs identified on the ground.
The aid was officially dispatched from Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta via cargo aircraft, led by Deputy Energy Minister Yuliot Tanjung and SKK Migas Head Djoko Siswanto, to ensure delivery to areas cut off by disrupted transportation routes.
“This assistance demonstrates the government’s and energy sector’s presence in supporting communities during disasters,” Yuliot Tanjung said on Thursday. “It reflects our moral responsibility and commitment to help residents affected by floods, while supporting rapid emergency response and recovery on the ground.”
Yuliot added that the aid symbolizes solidarity and the long-term commitment of the energy sector to strengthen social resilience in disaster-prone areas.
SKK Migas head Djoko Siswanto said upstream contractors operating in northern Sumatra have coordinated to provide assistance tailored to the needs of evacuation posts and affected communities.
“Relief distribution is ongoing. Today, 12.146 tons of aid -- including large tents, generators, and jet cleaners -- were loaded onto cargo planes and flown to the affected regions,” Djoko said.
