Puncak, Bogor. Nature tourism operator EIGER Adventure Land joined officials from the Environment Ministry and local governments in a tree-planting and restoration event in Puncak, West Java, last Tuesday.

The event was attended by Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto, Megamendung District Head Ridwan, House Member Mulyadi, executives from PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN), officials from the Mount Gede Pangrango National Park Authority, and community organizations.

The tree-planting initiative follows directives from Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq after the ministry’s decision to lift sanctions on several tourism operators, including EIGER Adventure Land, as they move toward full compliance with updated sustainability and conservation policies.

During the event, Mulyadi announced that ecotourism areas -- including EIGER Adventure Land -- would soon be allowed to resume operations.

“I’ve received confirmation that the administrative process is nearly complete. Hopefully, the seal will be lifted next Tuesday,” he said, noting that the decision reflects a balance between law enforcement, environmental preservation, and economic opportunity for local communities.

Rizal Irawan, Deputy for Environmental Law Enforcement at the ministry, added that EIGER Adventure Land is among several enterprises approved for reopening.

“We must remember that the essence of Law No. 32 is environmental restoration and recovery,” Rizal said.

Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto emphasized that the ministry’s approach aims to preserve the southern Bogor region, particularly the Puncak highlands, while maintaining a healthy investment climate.

“We want investment in Bogor to thrive -- but without compromising environmental sustainability,” he said.

EIGER Ekowisata Nusantara President Director Imanuel Wirajaya reaffirmed the company’s long-standing commitment to protecting nature and empowering local communities.

“For EIGER, loving nature isn’t a slogan -- it’s a responsibility. We hope to contribute to the solution, not only through tree planting but by building a sustainable ecotourism ecosystem that benefits both people and the planet,” Imanuel said.

He also expressed appreciation for the ministry’s balanced approach to policy enforcement.

“We thank the Ministry for opening space for dialogue and showing wise consideration. For us, the lifting of sanctions is not just an administrative matter -- it’s a renewed opportunity to realize truly sustainable ecotourism: a place where nature is preserved, communities are empowered, and future generations are inspired,” he added.

The event coincided with Youth Pledge Day (Hari Sumpah Pemuda), symbolizing a shared commitment between the government and private sector to restore Puncak -- a region vital to the ecological balance of the greater Jakarta area.

Amid growing climate challenges and development pressures, the restoration of Puncak stands as a testament to Indonesia’s collective resolve to protect its natural life-support systems.

Founded in 2017, EIGER Adventure Land is part of EIGER’s broader mission to promote sustainable adventure tourism. The site spans 253.66 hectares within the Mount Gede Pangrango National Park and an additional 73.23 hectares of rehabilitated PTPN land.

Driven by its restoration spirit, EIGER has planted more than 100,000 trees and eight million shrubs over recent years, turning degraded land into a productive, living national asset -- both ecologically and economically.
