BP Batam, Minister Airlangga Hold Meeting on Rempang Eco-City Project
Jakarta. BP Batam, the city’s development agency, recently held talks with Chief Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto on the progress of the Rempang Eco-City project.
During the meeting, Airlangga instructed BP Batam and other stakeholders including the relevant government bodies to coordinate with one another.
“So this investment can take shape as soon as possible,” Airlangga was quoted as saying in a press statement.
Airlangga said Indonesia was attractive to foreign investors while saying that he hoped the public could support investments to spur economic growth.
“We must see this investment momentum as an opportunity to boost Indonesia’s economy because there are currently many global investors that are eyeing Indonesia. That is why we need everyone’s support,” Airlangga said.
According to BP Batam head Muhammad Rudi, this project is an investment worth Rp 381 trillion and can spur job opportunities for 306,000 people.
“We will immediately act on Mr. Minister Airlangga’s instructions. We are committed to realize this national strategic project so we can improve the Batam people’s economy and prosperity,” Rudi said.
