BNI Supports Danantara in Handover of 600 Post-Disaster Homes in Aceh
Aceh Tamiang. State lender PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) has taken part in the handover of 600 Danantara temporary housing units in Aceh Tamiang district, marking the first phase of a post-disaster housing program coordinated by sovereign wealth fund Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara Indonesia) in collaboration with state-owned enterprises.
The handover forms part of an accelerated post-disaster recovery effort aimed at providing safe and dignified housing for communities affected by natural disasters.
The Danantara Housing Program is designed to help meet the government’s target of delivering 15,000 housing units for disaster victims across Aceh, West Sumatra and North Sumatra. The initiative underscores the state’s role in post-disaster recovery through the provision of secure, decent and humane living spaces.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the bank has played an active role in the construction of the housing units in Aceh Tamiang.
“BNI has contributed to the development of Danantara housing in Aceh Tamiang. Of the 600 units handed over in the first phase, BNI supported around 20 percent, or 120 housing units, as part of the synergy among state-owned enterprises under the coordination of Danantara Indonesia,” Okki said in a written statement.
The handover ceremony was attended by Danantara Indonesia Managing Director for Stakeholder Management Rohan Hafas, marking the readiness of the housing units for immediate occupancy by residents who lost their homes due to the disaster. Representatives from participating state-owned enterprises were also present, including BNI’s Area Head for Aceh and surrounding regions.
Earlier, the readiness of the Danantara housing project in Aceh Tamiang was reviewed on site by President Prabowo Subianto alongside Danantara Indonesia’s leadership, including CEO Rosan Roeslani, COO Dony Oskaria and Managing Director Rohan Hafas, on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. The inspection was also attended by executives from relevant state-owned enterprises, including BNI Information Technology Director Toto Prasetio.
The Danantara housing complex is equipped with supporting facilities such as playgrounds, WiFi access, prayer rooms, public facilities and adequate sanitation infrastructure to meet residents’ basic needs and ensure comfort. The project was developed through collaboration among state-owned construction firms, coordinated by PT Hutama Karya (Persero) as the lead executor.
Located along the Banda Aceh–Medan road in Kebun Tanjung Seumantoh, Karang Baru subdistrict, Aceh Tamiang, the project reflects a broader commitment to integrated recovery efforts.
Looking ahead, BNI reaffirmed its commitment to continued assistance throughout the construction phases and post-disaster recovery process, aiming to ensure rehabilitation efforts remain integrated, sustainable and deliver tangible benefits to affected communities.
