BNI Recognized as Excellence Leader in ESG Transparency in 2025 National Awards
Jakarta. Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) has strengthened its standing as a leader in sustainable finance after receiving the Leadership AA – Excellence Leader in ESG Transparency award at the Indonesia ESG Leadership Awards 2025, hosted by the Bumi Global Karbon (BGK) Foundation at Soehanna Hall, The Energy Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
The award reinforces BNI’s position as one of Indonesia’s pioneers in transparency and sustainable governance within the financial sector. This year’s event carried the theme “Aligning Indonesia ESG Leadership with Global Opportunities,” highlighting Indonesia’s growing momentum in deepening sustainable economic partnerships with the European Union and Canada through the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the recognition further motivates the bank to enhance transparency, accountability, and ESG integration across all business operations.
“This award encourages BNI to continuously strengthen transparency, accountability, and the integration of ESG principles across our business lines,” Okki said in a statement. “We believe sustainability is not only about social responsibility, but a long-term strategy to create economic value that remains balanced with environmental and social priorities.”
Okki noted that BNI has been consistent in advancing sustainability commitments through green financing and social initiatives that directly benefit communities. The bank actively supports renewable-energy projects, low-emission transport, and energy-efficiency programs -- efforts that align with Indonesia’s transition toward a low-carbon economy.
BNI is also expanding inclusive digitalization to improve financial access for low-income communities and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The initiative supports the bank’s broader goal of building an inclusive financial ecosystem while bolstering Indonesia’s long-term sustainable economic transformation.
“BNI views ESG leadership not merely as regulatory compliance, but as a moral commitment to deliver added value for the nation and the world,” Okki added. “Going forward, we will continue expanding cross-sector collaboration to strengthen Indonesia’s position in global value chains.”
Through consistent ESG implementation, BNI is increasingly recognized as a financial institution that balances profitability with environmental and social stewardship.
With this achievement, BNI reaffirms its commitment to serving as a strategic partner for the government and the private sector in accelerating Indonesia’s shift toward a greener, more inclusive, and globally competitive economy -- reflecting its mission to deliver positive and lasting impact nationwide.
