BGN Pushes New Nutrition Center Model at Sleman SPPG
Jakarta. The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is backing plans to establish a Nutrition Center at the Margomulyo Seyegan Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in Sleman, Yogyakarta, aiming to strengthen public nutrition education and provide structured consultation services for families enrolled in the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG).
During a visit on Friday, BGN Head of Legal and Public Relations Khairul Hidayati said the expanding professional qualifications of nutritionists are opening wider opportunities for community-based services.
“Nutritionists now hold Applied Bachelor’s degrees and are certified by the National Professional Certification Board (BNSP), which means they have the right to operate formal nutrition consultation practices. This is an important development in public health services,” she said.
Hidayati added that the upcoming Gizi Center aligns with BGN’s push for more comprehensive and integrated nutrition services across Indonesia. The facility at SPPG Margomulyo will offer nutrition counseling and child development support.
“This becomes an added value because the head of the SPPG has a background in psychology and a master’s degree in family welfare education,” she said.
According to Hidayati, the initiative could serve as a model for other SPPG units nationwide, helping strengthen nutrition literacy while ensuring that child development support goes beyond meal provision and includes continuous education for families.
BGN hopes the planned Nutrition Center will become a replicable model that supports a stronger national ecosystem for family nutrition and child health.
