Astra Focuses on Comprehensive Portfolio Review, Expands EV Lineup
Jakarta. Conglomerate Astra International (IDX: ASII) presented its first-half 2025 performance on Wednesday, reiterating its commitment to a strategic review of its entire business portfolio to ensure efficient capital allocation and deliver sustainable shareholder returns. The statement was made during a virtual public expose press conference.
Astra President Director Djony Bunarto Tjondro said the review is a fundamental step for a conglomerate of Astra’s scale.
“For the second quarter of 2025, we have already mentioned that Astra has begun a strategic review of our entire business portfolio. Considering Astra’s complexity as a conglomerate, this process will naturally take a significant amount of time. We will carefully evaluate our portfolio across the various options available,” Djony said.
He added that Astra’s priority is to preserve long-term shareholder value.
“One of our key focuses is to deliver solid and sustainable returns for all shareholders. This requires thorough evaluation from multiple aspects—commercial, operational, and strategic. That is something we will continue to pursue,” he said.
The company said it will continue to conduct comprehensive evaluations of its businesses while exploring new investment opportunities aligned with market developments.
At the same event, Astra also outlined its strategy for competing in the electric vehicle (EV) market. Astra Director Henry Tanoto said rivalry with global EV manufacturers benefits both consumers and Indonesia’s automotive industry.
“Our strategy remains consistent: to provide products and services that meet the diverse needs of society. Over the past two decades, Astra has maintained a market share of over 50 percent,” Henry said.
He added that nearly 90 percent of battery electric vehicle (BEV) adoption is concentrated in Jakarta and other major cities, reflecting infrastructure and purchasing power constraints. “That is why Astra offers a complete portfolio, from ICE vehicles across various segments, to hybrids, and BEVs,” he added.
This year, Astra introduced the Toyota bZ4X BEV, launched the Rocky Hybrid priced below Rp 300 million, and expanded its hybrid lineup.
Beyond products, Astra underscored the strength of its service ecosystem, including its nationwide dealer network from Sumatra to Papua, financing and insurance solutions, after-sales services, and trade-in programs designed to maintain vehicle resale value.
