Jakarta. Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) has teamed up with 12 partners, many of which are textile companies, to showcase sustainable viscose rayon at the 2023 Indo Intertex-Inatex in JIEXPO Kemayoran.

The 12 APR’s partners at the textile fair are PT ACP, Agungtex, Argo Pantes, Duniatex, Gajah Duduk, Harapan Abadi Tekstil Indonesia, (HATI), Inoui Printing, Kabanatex, Multi Sandang, Purnamatex, PT Pancapersada Mulia, and WISKA. They are all joining forces to present the various innovative applications of viscose rayon, all in a bid to support the government’s goal of making Indonesia in the top 5 of the world’s textile manufacturers.

Visitors can take a look at an array of products ranging from threads, printing fabrics, dye fabric, home textile, and fashion products (sarong, denim, modestwear, and loungewear) that use APR’s viscose rayon. 

At the textile fair, APR showcases the Finex recycled fiber. As the name suggests, the eco-friendly, recycled fiber is applicable for dailywear. Its high-quality and eco-friendly cellulose fiber Lyocell also makes an appearance.

“APR’s participation in this exhibition is to introduce the myriad of innovations and state-of-the-art technologies in developing viscose-rayon products that are eco-friendly and are high quality,” APR president director Basrie Kamba was quoted as saying in a press statement.

“This is part of our commitment to make Indonesia one of the world’s manufacturing centers in 2030,” he said.

APR’s rayon fiber uses renewable, traceable, and biodegradable raw materials. This makes rayon fiber a sustainable raw material for fashion products. Customers can even trace the source of their fabric simply by using the Follow Our Fiber tool.

APR first kicked off its operations in 2019. The viscose rayon producer has also launched APR2030, the company’s blueprint that highlights its sustainability commitments. APR has also pledged to be at the forefront of a clean and closed-loop production process in Indonesia’s textile industry.

APR’s plant in Pangkalan Kerinci today is capable of producing 300,000 tons of viscose rayon a year. The company is now exporting to over 20 countries, including Turkiye, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh.

The Industry Ministry sees the 2023 Indo Intertex-Inatex as a platform to support Indonesia’s textile industry and economy.

“This is a great collaboration for us all as it bridges the upstream and the downstream industries, thus creating harmony within the country’s textile industry,” Ignatius Warsito, the ministry’s director-general for chemical, pharmaceutical, and textile industry, said.

Ignatius also welcomed APR’s collaboration with its 12 partners. 

“How we can showcase our textile industry prowess, and APR has shown what it is capable of. This shows that we can be among countries whose textile technologies are far greater than ours,” Ignatius said.

The 2023 Indo Intertex-Inatex is taking place from Wednesday until Friday. There are also Fashionpreneur Workshop and other seminars on Indonesia’s textile industry with experts from the government, associations, and exhibitors as panelists.
