41st Trade Expo Indonesia Books $22.94 Billion Transactions
Jakarta. The 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) officially ended, recording $22.94 billion in potential transactions.
The trade fair, which ran from Oct. 14-18 at ICE BSD, exceeded its $17.5 billion target by 31.1%. According to Trade Minister Budi Santoso, the event saw the signing of 426 memoranda of understanding (MoUs).
This figure also includes $327.77 million in potential transactions generated during the culinary exhibition Pangan Nusa Expo. Deals secured by Indonesia's micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) totaled $510.79 million.
India, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates, and Japan were the biggest sources of the transactions. In terms of product categories, those with the highest potential transaction values included food and beverages, jewelry, wood products, agricultural products, and paper.
The 41st TEI featured 1,873 exhibitors—exceeding the target of 1,500 companies by 24.9%. This year’s exhibition also saw 9,600 registered buyers from 151 countries. Based on the number of buyers, the five trading partners with the highest participation were India, Malaysia, China, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan.
The exhibition also recorded over 45,287 visitors, marking a 31.08% year-on-year growth.
The Trade Ministry has pursued several strategies to keep up the momentum, among others, by hosting business matching sessions prior to and during the event. It has also promised to provide follow-up support to make sure that the deals do take place.
“The Trade Ministry, in coordination with our trade representatives abroad, will continue to monitor and support the agreements reached during TEI. We hope these agreements will evolve into formal trade contracts and make a tangible contribution to our national export performance,” Budi said.
The government also has a "Campuspreneur" program during the event in partnership with 25 Indonesian universities. This program provides students and the academic community with export training, mentorship, and market access. They even pitched their businesses to international buyers. The program generated a potential transaction value exceeding $24.57 million.
The next edition of TEI is set to take place on Oct. 13-17, 2027.
The 41st TEI has Bank Mandiri as its official bank partner. The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and oil company Pertamina have also backed the event as strategic partners. The Trade Ministry has also worked with event organizer Debindo Multi Adhiswasti and ICE BSD City to host the fair.
