258 Shuttlers from 12 Countries to Compete at wondr by BNI Indonesia International Challenge 2025
Yogyakarta. A total of 258 athletes from 12 countries will compete at the prestigious international badminton tournament wondr by BNI Indonesia International Challenge 2025, held in two consecutive weeks at GOR Among Rogo, Yogyakarta, from Nov. 11–16, 2025 and Nov. 18–23, 2025.
This International Challenge–level tournament is organized through a collaboration between the Badminton Asia Confederation and the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), together with PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI. The event is an important platform to help young athletes improve their world rankings.
This year’s edition will feature athletes from Indonesia, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, Korea, Thailand, India, Australia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Brunei Darussalam. Their participation reflects strong global recognition of Indonesia’s sportsmanship and consistency in hosting world-class badminton events.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said BNI’s support through the wondr by BNI platform demonstrates the company’s commitment to strengthening the national sports ecosystem, especially badminton, and expanding access for young athletes to compete at the international level.
“BNI hopes our presence in this tournament can serve as a catalyst for elevating national sports achievements on the global stage, while strengthening collaborative spirit between the business sector and the sports community,” Okki said.
He added that sustained support for international tournaments like this aligns with BNI’s strategy to boost the competitiveness of Indonesian athletes worldwide. This approach is expected to enhance the quality of domestic competition and open wider opportunities for young athletes to climb to higher tiers.
This tournament serves as a stepping stone for young Indonesian athletes to challenge top global players while sharpening their competitiveness at international-level events. International Challenge tournaments often produce surprises, as they are known as a launchpad for rising stars in world badminton.
PBSI Vice Chairman III and Chairman of the Organizing Committee Armand Darmadji said that Yogyakarta was chosen as host for two consecutive tournaments due to its international-standard facilities, readiness of the local committee, and strong public enthusiasm for badminton.
“The performance of PBSI Yogyakarta and its team reflects a high level of readiness to hold large-scale events. Their strong track record and outstanding public support ensure that this year’s event will be successful and memorable for all participants,” Armand said.
With continued commitment, BNI hopes its contribution will help nurture more top-performing athletes and further advance Indonesian badminton.
