2025 PIMA: Pupuk Indonesia's Journalism Competition is Back
Jakarta. State fertilizer maker Pupuk Indonesia is hosting its annual journalism competition again this year.
The Pupuk Indonesia Media Award (PIMA) is open to all journalists in Indonesia, both from national and regional media outlets. The 2025 PIMA competition embraces the theme "Building a Strong Fertilizer Industry for Food Sovereignty."
Pupuk Indonesia’s Vice President of Corporate Communications, Cindy Systiarani Galuhchandri, said Tuesday that the competition aimed to increase public understanding of the fertilizer industry's role in achieving national food self-sufficiency, in line with the vision of President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita program. It also highlights the active role of the company and its holding members in achieving agricultural productivity and sustainable agriculture in the country.
"The government has made many positive changes to the governance of subsidized fertilizer distribution in 2025. Pupuk Indonesia is committed to implementing the latest regulations to increase agricultural productivity. Realizing these changes also requires collaboration from many parties, including the mass media, which can provide information to all corners of the country," Cindy said.
In PIMA 2025, Pupuk Indonesia is offering five competition categories: Hard News, Feature, Television, Radio, and Photography. Entries must have been published in the media between October 1 and December 31, 2025.
Each journalist can report on a theme, including publications on the performance and operational activities of Pupuk Indonesia and its nine subsidiaries: Pupuk Iskandar Muda, Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang, Pupuk Kujang Cikampek, Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, Petrokimia Gresik, Rekayasa Industri, Pupuk Indonesia Niaga, Pupuk Indonesia Pangan, and Pupuk Indonesia Logistik.
"To make it easier for participants to explore the theme, we have expanded it into two sub-themes: ‘Transformation of Pupuk Indonesia: Realizing a Modern, Efficient, and Accountable Fertilizer Industry’ and ‘Strengthening Services and Monitoring to Increase Agricultural Productivity, ’” Cindy said.
In this event, Pupuk Indonesia is awarding prizes of up to Rp 262.5 million (around $15,816) to winners. Six winners will be selected for each competition category. First place will receive Rp 20 million, second place Rp 10 million, third place Rp 7.5 million, and three runners-up Rp 5 million each. The competition will be judged by a panel of judges consisting of senior journalists, senior photographers, or chief photo editors from national media outlets.
Journalists planning to participate in the PIMA 2025 program can register and find out more information through the link https://bit.ly/PIMA2025, WhatsApp (WA) 0821 1040 0211 (Lulu) and 0896 2108 6215 (Laila) during business hours, or the committee's official email address at [email protected].
"We hope that through this program, the public can learn more about developments in the national fertilizer industry, particularly regarding the significant improvements in fertilizer distribution regulations, and specifically the role of the Pupuk Indonesia Group in supporting food security and developing sustainable agriculture," Cindy said.
