VP Candidate Gibran Urges Citizens to Vote in the 2024 Elections
Solo. Vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka is encouraging the public to participate in the upcoming elections on Feb.14, 2024, urging them to cast their votes at the polling stations (TPS). Additionally, he emphasizes the importance of maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during the democratic process.
Gibran, who is running alongside presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and also serves as the Mayor of Solo, delivered this message after inspecting various projects associated with Solo City's 17 priority points on Tuesday.
"Once again, Solo citizens, please do not abstain; come to the polling stations tomorrow morning. Different choices are acceptable, but the crucial factor is ensuring that the residents of Solo remain in harmony. Safety and orderliness are paramount tomorrow," said Gibran, the eldest son of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
Gibran said that there is no need for conflicts if people hold different opinions about the country's leadership.
"Different choices are acceptable; winning or losing is a common aspect of a contest. The crucial point is that Solo residents can express their voices through voting," he said.
Gibran, along with his wife Selvi Ananda, will participate in the voting process at Polling Station 034 Manahan, Banjarsari, Solo.
"I have already sought blessings (sungkem) from my father and mother a couple of days ago," he said.
Gibran also mentioned that he did not have any specific preparations or activities leading up to and after the election day.
"After voting, I will just rest and watch TV at home. What's more important is for everyone to vote, avoid abstaining, and there's no need for convoys," he concluded.
