Bangkok. Indonesia climbed to second place in the SEA Games 2025 medal standings after adding 12 gold medals on Sunday, narrowing its contest with Vietnam while host nation Thailand continued to pull away at the top.

As of Monday, Thailand remained firmly in first place with 132 gold, 78 silver and 47 bronze medals, for a total of 257. The hosts’ growing lead has made them increasingly difficult to catch with only a few days of competition remaining.

Indonesia sits in second with 43 gold, 56 silver and 53 bronze medals, totaling 152. The latest surge in gold medals gave Indonesia a nine-gold advantage over Vietnam, strengthening its hold on the runner-up position while keeping hopes alive of adding more top finishes before the Games conclude.

Vietnam is third with 34 gold, 34 silver and 66 bronze medals, for a total of 134. While the gap with Indonesia has widened slightly, competition between the two regional sporting powers is expected to remain intense until the final events are completed.

Singapore occupies fourth place with 26 gold, 28 silver and 33 bronze medals, totaling 87. Malaysia and the Philippines are locked in a close battle for positions five and six. Malaysia has collected 20 gold, 23 silver and 69 bronze medals, while the Philippines has 17 gold, 32 silver and 68 bronze medals. Despite having fewer gold medals, the Philippines’ higher overall medal count keeps it within striking distance of Malaysia.

Further down the table, Myanmar has earned three gold medals among its 37 total, while Laos has secured two golds. Brunei Darussalam and Timor-Leste remain without gold medals, though both have reached the podium in silver and bronze events.

With several competitions still to be decided, shifts in the standings remain possible, particularly among nations ranked from third to sixth. However, Thailand’s commanding lead appears increasingly secure as the SEA Games 2025 approach their final stages.
