Jakarta. Krisdayanti, a veteran singer who has gained fame since the 1990s, has been nominated by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) for the mayoral election in Batu, East Java.

She accepted the nomination and celebrated by singing a song, according to Antara news agency.

PDI-P Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri and her daughter, House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani, instructed Krisdayanti to “work with all political parties” in Batu to find a running mate.

“They asked me to collaborate with all parties,” Krisdayanti said.
