Prosecutors Seize Johnny Plate’s Range Rover SUV
Jakarta. The Attorney General’s Office said Wednesday prosecutors have seized a luxury SUV belonging to Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny Plate who was detained last week for alleged corruption.
AGO spokesman Ketut Sumedana said the 2021 Range Rover Velar was seized to support the ongoing investigation against Johnny, the main suspect in the corruption scandal related to 4G internet infrastructure projects overseen by his office.
The latest model of a Range Rover Velar is priced at Rp 2.93 billion ($196,000) in Indonesia.
Ketut said prosecutors also have seized assets belonging to other suspects -- Anang Achmad Latif, Galubang Menak, and Irwan Hermawan.
Anang is the president director of the Information and Telecommunication Accessibility Agency, or BAKTI, an affiliate of the Communication and Informatics Ministry tasked with running the internet infrastructure projects across the country.
From Anang, prosecutors seized a BMW X5 SUV, a BMW/R 1250 GS motorcycle, a Honda HR-V car, a Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer motorcycle, a Triumph Tiger 1200 motorcycle, and land and building in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta.
From Galubang, the CEO of Mora Telematika Indonesia, prosecutors took a Toyota Innova car, a Lexus car, and a property in Setiabudi, South Jakarta.
Prosecutors also confiscated two lands in Bandung belonging to Irwan, a commissioner with Solitchmedia Synergy.
"The purpose of the asset forfeiture is to collect evidence to be used against each of the suspects,” Ketut said in a statement.
State auditors put the state loss from the corruption scandal at an estimated Rp 8 trillion ($536 million).
