Jakarta. The Attorney General's Office said on Wednesday it may summon former National Nutrition Agency (BGN) chief Nanik Deyang for questioning as part of its widening corruption investigation into the agency overseeing the government's flagship free nutritious meals program.

"The possibility of questioning her remains open," Attorney General's Office spokesman Anang Supriatna told reporters when asked whether investigators planned to question Nanik.

Nanik resigned earlier on Wednesday, citing health reasons in a social media post, after serving just 45 days as head of the agency.

Her resignation has drawn public attention because it came as prosecutors continue investigating alleged corruption at the agency, a case that has so far resulted in seven suspects.

In early June, prosecutors arrested then-BGN chief Dadan Hindayana and his two deputies, Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sanjaya, over alleged corruption linked to the free nutritious meals program.

Nanik, who was serving as one of the agency's deputy chiefs at the time, was not arrested. Instead, President Prabowo Subianto promoted her to lead the agency following Dadan's dismissal.

Prosecutors have repeatedly said the investigation remains ongoing and have not ruled out naming additional suspects.

Nanik has not yet been questioned as a witness.

Anang said investigators would summon anyone deemed necessary to strengthen the evidence in the case, adding that witness examinations are continuing.

He declined to say when Nanik might be called for questioning, saying investigators are currently focused on interviewing other witnesses as they build the case.

The investigation has expanded beyond the original three suspects. Prosecutors have since named four additional suspects: Lalu Muhammad Iwan, secretary to the BGN deputy for promotion and cooperation, and three businessmen -- Asep Yusuf Soemantri, Andri Mulyono, and Glory Harimas Sihombing.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prabowo appointed Deputy Agriculture Minister Sudaryono as the agency's new chief, replacing Nanik after her brief tenure.
