President Jokowi to Fly Home to Solo on Commercial Flight After Retirement
Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo plans to return to his hometown of Solo, Central Java, shortly after his successor, Prabowo Subianto, is sworn into office on October 20, according to a close aide.
Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi, who also served as the former chairman of Jokowi’s largest supporter group, Projo, said that Jokowi will depart for Solo after the presidential inauguration ceremony on Sunday afternoon.
"President Jokowi is scheduled to depart from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta to Solo at 3 p.m. on October 20," Budi said.
State Secretary Pratikno earlier confirmed that a ticket for Jokowi’s flight home had already been purchased. He added that, like all former presidents, Jokowi will continue to receive protection from the Presidential Security Force after his retirement.
Jokowi first mentioned his intention to return to Solo immediately after the presidential power transition during the BNI Investor Daily Summit last week.
